Michael Gale
Chair of Governors
I joined as a Governor in Sept 2022 and have enjoyed every moment so far. I have 3 young boys and one of my motivations for applying was to understand the inner workings of a school before they start.
I am a Senior Leader in a Charity and wanted to give something back to the community and this role felt like a perfect fit. I have skills and experience in strategy, finance, governance, and risk and look forward to positively impacting on the school in the future.
Jenny Pritchard B.Ed. (Hons.)
Headteacher
I am extremely proud to be the Headteacher of such a happy, vibrant and successful primary school. Since beginning my teaching career here in 1997, I have seen the school grow and change into a very special and unique place with talented and dedicated staff working hard to secure the very best outcomes for all children.
For many years, I was the SENCo at Muxton and have a particular passion and interest in supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities.
The current leadership team includes a very skilled and committed team of governors who have a clear and ambitious vision for our school.
Hari Ramasamy
LA Appointed Governor
I am the IT Director for a large General Insurance company based in England. I have worked in Information Technology for more than 20 years performing various leadership roles across the public and private sector. I live in Newport and I am married with two children both attending school at Newport.
I was appointed as LA Governor for Muxton primary school in August 2022, and I look forward to working with the rest of the governing body members and actively contributing towards the strategic priorities of the school.
Leah Bailey
Co-Opted Governor
I have worked within the childcare sector for 24 years. I have worked here on the site at Muxton for 18 years. Initially, I was the manager for the extended provision, which involved being the SENDCO and safeguarding lead.
In 2013, I decided to expand and invested in ‘The Learning Tree’ pre-school. The pre-school has gone from strength to strength as the main nursery provider here at Muxton Primary. The nursery provides care for children aged 2.5 years to school age, at which point most transfer to Muxton Primary. This is, in part, due to the excellent links we have built with the Early Years staff at school. Due to my background, my main interest is early years and I’m really keen to build on these relationships by being a governor and supporting the school.
Catherine Worrall
Vice-Chair of Governors
I am the parent of two children and both my children attend the school. My eldest child has autism. I would like to use my experience and knowledge of being a parent to a child with additional needs to represent children who have special educational needs at Muxton Primary School. I’m committed and passionate about ensuring that every child has access to the right education, and that their specific needs are met.
My background is in environmental science. I have BSc (hons) in Physical Geography and a MSc in Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems. I have worked in both the public and private sector. I volunteered for 7 years as an assistant Cub Scout leader.
Ann Davies
Staff Governor
I am a staff governor and proud to be the Assistant Headteacher, SENCo and a part of the Year 1 teaching team at Muxton Primary School. I first worked in education as a Teaching Assistant, later completing a B.Ed. (Hons) to become a primary school teacher.
My earlier experiences of working in education greatly contributed to my passion for supporting pupils with additional needs. This led me to complete my P.G.C.E National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo) in 2013.
I am committed to ensuring the curriculum in school is accessible to all our pupils, whether that be through reasonable adjustments, adaptations and modifications or a more specific programme linked to particular, individual needs. I have recently joined the team of governors and I am excited to be a part of a team who have a clear vision for our school and are invested in ensuring all pupils achieve.
Alex Armitage
Parent Governor
I only joined the Muxton governors’ team in November 2022 but am extremely proud to be able to contribute to such a wonderful school. I have two children who both attend the school in KS1.
My background is mostly in education, and I worked as a primary teacher for eight years in a variety of schools within different local authorities. I am particularly passionate about providing a breadth of curriculum and believe the arts and sciences are of great importance.
I have since had a career change and now work as a cost estimator, where I price IT projects at an early stage in their lifecycle.
I live in Muxton and am often out and about, walking our cockerpoo. If you see me, please say hi!
Kirsty Wilding
Parent Governor
My background is in Child Development, and Child Health. I am a qualified Occupational Therapist and have lots of experience working with children with additional needs, supporting emotional health and wellbeing, and advocating for their needs.
I feel very passionate about empowering children to achieve their full potential, and having a strong foundation to build on throughout their lives. I have been a parent of children at Muxton School since 2005 and have seen many positive changes throughout this time.
I joined the Muxton governors’ team in November 2022, and I look forward to supporting the school and its families going forward.
Alexandru Arsene
Co-opted Governor
I am the newest addition to the school Governors.
Father of one and Law and Philosophy graduate, I run a small family business in the Shropshire area.
I am described by peers as meticulous, friendly, always eager to help, and constantly looking out for anything that can be improved or re-purposed.
I am passionate about business improvement and development and hope to be a valuable addition to the already amazing team here at Muxton Primary.
