Year 4 Discovery Centre Trip Tuesday 19th March

Year 4 Discovery Centre Trip Tuesday 19th MarchProvided by

Dear Parent/Carer,

As part of our work in Geography we have been learning about Rivers. To support this work, we have planned a trip to the Discovery Centre at Craven Arms on Tuesday 19th March. This will be an exciting and educational experience for the children, they will be taking part in various activities that include exploring river features, learning about how rivers are formed, undertaking some river measurement exercises and doing some detective work to discover how and why the river’s course changed in the past.

We will be travelling by coach, leaving at 8.45am and will return to school in time for the end of the school day. Children will need to wear their forest school clothes with trainers on their feet. They will need to bring their Wellingtons with them (in a named bag), waterproof clothing and a hat.

All children will need to bring a packed lunch. If your child is in receipt of Free School Meals and you require a school packed lunch please email us at

The cost of the trip is £10.90 voluntary contribution. We need enough voluntary contributions to cover the visit in order for the trip to go ahead.

Please make payment and give consent via your child’s Scopay account under trips and events by Monday 11th March.

Many thanks for your continued support.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Holmes & Mrs Moreton

Forest School for Mrs Holmes’ Class

Re: Forest School for Year 4 – Mrs Holmes’ Class

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Next term will see the start of Forest School sessions for your child’s class.  Please take a moment to read the information below and complete the medical/allergies questionnaire attached, returning to school no later than Monday 19th February.

Wednesdays – February 21st, February 28th, March 6th, March 13th and March 20th

Your child will be told by their class teacher which session they are in, and all children will change into and out of their Forest School clothes at school, so please come to school in normal uniform, school shoes and coat.

They will be taking part in activities that involve team building, how to take risks safely, problem solving and communicating.  Children can bring their water bottles out with them and there may be some snacks provided (please see the questionnaire attached regarding dietary requirements/allergies).

What to bring

The great British weather can be unpredictable, and, as all sessions are outside – whatever the weather – please be aware that your child’s clothing and coat is very likely to get wet, muddy and dirty – this is part of the experience for them!

Children will change into their Forest School clothing at school:

  • T-shirt(s) and jumper – lots of thinner layers are better than one thicker layer!
  • Jogging bottoms or leggings – jeans are not suitable as, if they become wet, your child may get very cold
  • Spare Socks – these may get wet so children need an extra pair other than their school uniform socks

Children will also need to bring the following items in a plastic bag (not in their school bag):

  • Wellies or walking boots (please provide an extra plastic bag to put dirty footwear in after their session)
  • Waterproof/warm coat
  • Waterproof trousers (optional)
  • Hat, gloves, scarf for colder-weather sessions

Please ensure all items of clothing are named.

Medical and Health information

Please could you take some time to complete this form by Monday 19th February.

If you have any questions, please email

Kind regards,

Mrs Turner and Miss Wilkinson
